Cheese scones
A quick, cheesy bake: the dough comes together with a flat-bladed knife, pats out to 2 cm and cuts into little rounds that bake up risen and golden, served warm with chive cream cheese.

Serve warm with the low-fat cream cheese mixed with chives or spring onion.
Method
- 01
Heat the oven to 200°C.
- 02
Sift together the flour, salt, cayenne and baking powder.
- 03
Using your fingers, rub the butter into the flour mixture (or you can do this in a food processor).
- 04
Mix through the grated cheese.
- 05
Add the milk a little at a time (you may not need all of it) and mix with the flat-bladed knife until it starts to come together.
- 06
Once you have formed a smooth dough, pat it out to 2 cm thick and cut into rounds with a 3–4 cm cutter.
- 07
Arrange on a baking tray and bake in the oven for 10–15 minutes until risen and golden.
- 08
Serve warm with the low-fat cream cheese mixed with chives or spring onion.
Keep cooking
